 Thomas Curry

Thomas Curry graduated from Weaver High School and received his degree from Jacksonville State university. Curry served as an assistant at Hueytown before landing the head football coaching job at Springville in 1996.

His teams at Springville combined for a 49-14 record in five seasons with five playoff appearances. His 1997 and 1998 squads reached the semi-finals and his teams won three region titles.

In 2001, Coach Curry accepted the head coaching position at Cherokee County High School in Centre. He left the Springville Tigers, an 8-3 record and second-round playoff appearance, behind and jumped at the chance to come to Centre to rebuild a program that had struggled in recent years.

Curry has remained with the Cherokee County program ever since. The Warriors under his leadership are 91-60 with eight playoff appearances and four region titles in his thirteen seasons at the school.

Currys 2005 squad lost to Pike County 10-6 in the State Championship game at Legion Field in Birmingham. In 2008 a 14-1 Warrior team again lost in the titles game to UMS-Wright 41-7.

Everything came together for Coach Curry and the Warriors in 2009 when they won the Class 4A State Championship in Tuscaloosa with a 31-27 victory over Jackson High School.

In 23 years as a head coach, Currys teams combined for a 171-101 record and a 28-15 playoff record. His teams have won eight region titles.
